Duo Uses Baby Carriages To Hide Thefts At CT Store: Police Authorities are asking for help in finding three people suspected of stealing from a Connecticut store, including two who used baby carriages to hide their thefts, police said. The thefts happened at an unnamed Hartford County retail establishment in Enfield, Enfield Police announced on Sunday, Oct. 8. According to the department, two out of the three suspects had been pushing baby carriages with children inside and had used the carriages to hide the theft. Car Crashes Through School Wall In Yonkers: Students Now Being Re-Routed Students are being re-routed after a vehicle crashed into their Westchester school building, creating a gaping hole in the wall. The incident happened in Yonkers on Tuesday morning, Oct. 10, when a motorist lost control of their vehicle and crashed into the Waring Avenue side of Yonkers Public School 9 at 53 Fairview St., Yonkers Police announced. $132K Project: New Downtown Crosswalks Coming To Peekskill Several new crosswalks will be coming to a downtown area in Northern Westchester as part of a $132,000 project meant to improve safety. The new pedestrian crosswalks will be coming to downtown Peekskill as part of the city's ongoing $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative, according to New York State Sen. 2 Injured, Utility Pole Snapped In Head-On Crash In Croton Falls A head-on collision in Northern Westchester caused two people to be hospitalized and left smoking live wires and a snapped pole in its wake. The incident happened on Sunday, Oct. 8 around 5 p.m., when first responders received a report of a collision in Croton Falls at the intersection of June Road and Grant Road. Bald Eagle Comes Back To Life After Being Found In Newtown Road In the midst of spooky season, a bald eagle seemingly came back from the dead after it was found lifeless on a Fairfield County road. The incident happened on Monday, Oct. 9, when Newtown Police and Animal Control responded to Mount Pleasant Road, where a possibly dead bald eagle was found in the street. Former Fire Chief Of Hudson Valley Department Dies: Had 'Legacy Of Service' A Hudson Valley community is mourning the loss of a former fire chief who spent nearly his entire life serving the public. The Mahopac Fire Department in Putnam County announced the death of its former chief, Edward J. Scott, on Sunday, Oct. 8. In addition to serving as the former chief, Scott had also served as the past President and Chairman of the Mahopac Board of Fire Commissioners. He also worked as a 911 dispatcher for Putnam County.
