Off-Duty Yonkers Officer Accidentally Shoots Self In Eatery Restroom: Police An officer is recovering after accidentally shooting himself with his firearm in the bathroom of a Westchester restaurant while off-duty. The incident happened on Wednesday night, Oct. 18, when an off-duty Yonkers Police officer was visiting an establishment in White Plains, according to Yonkers Police Detective Sergeant Frank DiDomizio. CT Bakery To Close: 'We Have Not Grown As Much As We Needed To,' Owner Says After three years of a dream come true, a Connecticut bakery will be permanently closing as a result of stagnant business. Cake, Batter & Roll, located in Middlesex County at 124 College St. in Middletown, will open for its last day of business on Sunday, Oct. 29, the owner announced on social media. Man Stopped From Jumping Off Highway Overpass In Yonkers: Police Thanks to quick action from officers, a man in distress was prevented from jumping off a highway overpass in Westchester and brought to safety. Crash Briefly Blocks Lanes On I-95 In New Rochelle A crash resulted in temporary lane closures on Interstate 95 in Westchester. This story has been updated. The crash, which happened on Friday morning, Oct. 20, briefly caused all southbound lanes of I-95 in New Rochelle between Exit 16 (North Avenue) and Exit 15 (Route 1) to be blocked, state police announced around 11 a.m. All lanes had reopened by 1:15 p.m., according to police. Murder-Suicide In Granite Springs: Funds Raised For Husband After 'Unthinkable Tragedy' A community is coming together to help support a Northern Westchester man whose life was torn apart by a murder-suicide involving his wife and their infant child. Person Fatally Struck By Metro-North Train At Port Chester Station A person was killed after being struck by a Metro-North train at a Westchester station, officials said.
