Virginia Parents Who Abused 19-Month-Old Son Before His Mysterious Death Arrested, Cops Say
Two parents charged in the death of their 19-month-old son have been arrested in Virginia, police said.
Richard Osmin Ascencio, 31, and Jakeline Sanchez, 28, both of Woodbridge, are both wanted for felony child abuse, the county police department said.
Officers were called to their Granby Road home on Jan. 22, 2023 where firefighters found their 19-month-old child unresponsive, police said. The boy was rushed to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police have released details in a train accident that left three people including a mother and her child dead earlier this week in Fairfax County.
Yeraldin Pardo, 28, of Lincolnia, was on the elevated tracks at Accotink Park Road in Springfield with her 8-year-old son and 28-year-old Diego Arriaza, of Annandale, around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, county police said.
The freight train struck Arriaza, while Pardo and the boy, identified in a GoFundMe campaign as Eli, fell from the bridge, police said. All three victims were declared dead at the scene.

An 18-year-old driver was arrested during a routine motor vehicle stop in which Fairfax County police found just under 100 fentanyl pills, wads of cash, and marijuana, police said.
An officer stopped Fredy Ralda Rojas, of Bailey's Crossroads, at 9 p.m. on Saturday June 1 at Glen Carlyn Drive and Glen Carlyn Road, county police tell Daily Voice.
The officer saw large amounts of cash and narcotics.
Turns out, Rojas had 87 fentanyl pills, more than 2.5 ounces of marijuana, and a large amount of cash, police said.

Police have released the identities of the three people believed killed by their roommate in Spotsylvania this week.
Alyssa Venable, 23, remains at large in connection with the deadly shooting of her three roommates, who were found dead in their White Street Court home on Tuesday, June 4.
The sheriff's office identified the victims as Robert John McGuire 77, Gregory Scott Powell, 60, and, Carol Anne Reese, 65. They were found by deputies performing a welfare check having suffered upper-body trauma, authorities said previously.
