New Store, Deli Opens For Business In Hudson Valley A new grocery store and deli is now open in the Hudson Valley.  Anita's Grocery & Deli, located in Putnam County at 299 Peekskill Hollow Rd. in Putnam Valley, held its grand opening on Saturday, Feb. 17.  In attendance at the celebration was Putnam County Legislator Bill Gouldman, who announced the store's opening on social media. "We wish them best wishes. Let's show our support for these Putnam Valley residents," Gouldman wrote in his post.  The store offers a selection of American, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian food.

Director At Business In Armonk Dies At Age 57 A Navy veteran from the Hudson Valley who had a crucial role in a Northern Westchester business is being remembered for his kind heart.  Orange County resident Eugene “Gene” Guido of Highland Mills, died peacefully at the age of 57 while surrounded by family members on Friday, Feb. 16, according to his obituary.  Born in 1966 in the Bronx, Guido went on to serve in the US Navy and eventually became the director of pre-construction for Armonk-based Touchstone Builders.  Guido was also known as a loving husband to his wife, Rose, and an always-caring father to his ch…

Police To Conduct Training With Simulated Weapons At School In Port Chester A police department in Westchester is advising residents that it will be conducting training with simulated weapons at a school in the county.  The Port Chester Police Department will be conducting the training on Tuesday, Feb. 20, and Wednesday, Feb. 21 at the Park Avenue School, authorities said.  The training exercises will include the use of simulated weapons, but there is no concern to the public, the department added.  "We thank the Port Chester School District for use of the building," the department said.

Person Lying On Tracks Rescued At Croton-Harmon Train Station Rail traffic at a Northern Westchester train station was temporarily halted when an unconscious person was found lying on the tracks, fire officials said.  The incident happened on Thursday, Feb. 15 around 2:45 p.m., when Croton-on-Hudson firefighters and police as well as MTA Police found an unconscious person on the tracks, the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department announced on Friday night, Feb. 16.  Metro-North officials then stopped rail traffic and disconnected power to the high-voltage third rail, allowing rescuers to reach the person.
