Car Goes Up In Flames On Busy Road Near Lake In Hudson Valley A car fire in the Hudson Valley left a busy main road filled with smoke, firefighters said. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Feb. 7 around 11 a.m., when a vehicle caught on fire on Route 301 near Canopus Lake in the town of Kent, according to the Cold Spring Fire Company No. 1, which helped respond to the blaze.  Arriving fire crews found that the vehicle's occupants had been able to escape unharmed and began extinguishing the blaze.  The fire was fully put out by noon, firefighters said. The cause of the blaze was not released.

Retired Mount Vernon Police Officer Dies: 'Served With Distinction' A police department in Westchester has announced the death of one of its retired members.  The death of retired Mount Vernon Police Officer Rocky Rosado was announced by the department on Friday, Feb. 2.  In a social media post memorializing Rosado, the department wrote that he "served with distinction" from 1983 to 2011.  The department also added that his family would hold private services in honor of him.  His age was not released by police.
