Minimum Wage To Go Up In Westchester: Here's When, How Much To help those struggling with rising costs, New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced that the state's minimum wage will be increasing when the new year begins. Man Killed After Truck Strikes Car, Overturns Into Ditch On CT Road A 39-year-old man was killed after losing control of his truck on a Connecticut road and hitting another car before overturning into a ditch, police said. The crash happened in New London County on Sunday, Dec. 10 just after 5 p.m., when a Dodge Ram driven by 39-year-old Matthew Babcock of Lisbon was traveling north around a curve in the area of 509 Route 164 in Preston, according to state police. 4 Firefighters Hospitalized After 4-Alarm Blaze At Condominiums In White Plains A four-alarm blaze at a condominium complex in Westchester resulted in four firefighters and one civilian being sent to a nearby hospital, fire officials said. Update: Man Killed By Train In Chappaqua Was Beloved Author Of 2 Novels A beloved author of two novels who was fatally struck by a Metro-North train in Northern Westchester is being remembered for his talent and passion for his craft. Chappaqua resident David Burr Gerrard died on Friday, Dec. 8 at the age of 42 after being struck by a Harlem Line train at Chappaqua station at around 9 a.m., according to an MTA spokesperson. Ramp Between I-287, Sprain Brook Parkway In Elmsford To Close Overnight Motorists are being warned that a busy ramp leading between Interstate 287 and a well-traveled parkway in Westchester will soon be affected by an overnight road closure. The ramp from the northbound Sprain Brook Parkway to westbound Interstate 287 in Elmsford will close between 11 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11 through 5 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 12, the New York State Department of Transportation announced. Motorists who are affected should use the posted detour as an alternate route, officials said. The closure is to allow for guide rail repairs.
