Over 70 Summonses Issued For 'Unsafe, Dangerous' Truck Violations In North Castle A police enforcement detail in Northern Westchester resulted in nearly 80 summonses being issued to truck drivers committing dangerous violations, authorities said. The enforcement effort was announced by the North Castle Police Department on Wednesday, Nov. 8, and was conducted to check trucks for " unsafe and dangerous violations" that can result in serious accidents or even death, police said. Election Day Results: These Mayoral Candidates Win Big In Westchester Election Day 2023 in Westchester proved to be a mixed bag for mayoral candidates, as some incumbents managed to keep their positions while some found themselves passing on the torch to newcomers. Blaze Damages 12-Story Vacant Building On Old Hospital Property In Port Chester Several fire departments had to race to an old hospital property in Westchester after a debris pile near a 12-story vacant building went up in flames. The incident happened on Tuesday, Nov. 7 around 3:30 p.m., when firefighters responded to the old United Hospital property in Port Chester in the area of Boston Post Road and High Street, where a debris pile behind a 12-story vacant residential building had ignited. Truck Careens Into Wooded Ditch In Somers A truck had to be towed from a roadside embankment after losing control and careening off a Northern Westchester road. The incident happened on Tuesday, Nov. 7 around 7:20 a.m., when the Somers Volunteer Fire Department responded to Van Rensselaer Road for a reported crash. According to the department, arriving crews confirmed that there were no injuries as a result of the crash. Units then worked for around two hours to remove the truck from the wooded embankment. The cause of the crash was not revealed by authorities.

Ramp Between Interstate 287, Sprain Brook Parkway To Close In Greenburgh: Here's When A ramp connecting Interstate 287 to a busy parkway in Westchester is set to close during an upcoming weeknight. The ramp from eastbound Interstate 287 to the southbound Sprain Brook Parkway in Greenburgh will close between 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8 through 5 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9, the New York State Department of Transportation announced. The closure will allow crews to perform maintenance on the ramp, officials said. Motorists in the area are asked to use the posted detour as an alternate route during the closure.

Alert Issued For 15-Year-Old Girl Missing For More Than Week In Mount Vernon Authorities in Westchester are asking for the public's help in finding a 15-year-old girl who has been missing for over a week. Mount Vernon Police issued an alert on Tuesday, Nov. 7 for 15-year-old Saniya Valdez, who has been missing since Friday, Oct. 27. Valdez is described as 5-foot-6 and weighing around 150 pounds. Door-To-Door Scam Alert: Police Warn Of Fake 'Contractors' In Rye Authorities are warning of scammers claiming to be contractors who have been going door-to-door in Westchester neighborhoods in an attempt to solicit payments from residents. These purported "contractors" have been reported in several Rye neighborhoods, the City of Rye Police Department announced on Monday, Nov. 6. Person Hospitalized After Head-On Crash In Somers A head-on collision on a busy Northern Westchester roadway sent one person to the hospital, fire officials said. The incident happened on Monday, Nov. 6 just after 2:15 p.m., when first responders were dispatched to the intersection of Route 100 and Moseman Avenue in Somers for a two-car crash, according to the Somers Volunteer Fire Department. White Plains Hospital Gets 'A' Grade For Patient Safety: Report Two hospitals in Westchester are at the top of their class when it comes to patient safety, according to a new report. Both Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco and White Plains Hospital were given an "A" grade for patient safety in a new Fall 2023 report by the Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog organization that advocates for safety in hospitals.
