On Sunday, Feb. 12, around 2:50 a.m., multiple state troopers were parked on the shoulder of Route 8 in Litchfield County while both assisting with a disabled vehicle and conducting a traffic stop in the town of Litchfield. Super Bowl Flyover: Navy Pilot From North Salem Joins All-Woman Team For Big Game A US Navy pilot from Northern Westchester was one of several women who flew over Super Bowl LVII just before the game started. Former North Salem resident and North Salem High School alumni Lieutenant Margaret Dente, also known as Peggy Bobbin, was part of the all-woman team who took part in an integrated flyover over State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, where the game was held on Sunday, Feb. 12, North Salem Town Supervisor Warren Lucas said. 'Maestro': Former Conductor, Band Director For White Plains High School Dies A beloved former conductor and high school band director known for starting a love of music in countless people in Westchester County has died. Alfred Renino of White Plains died on Saturday, Feb. 11 at the age of 92, according to his obituary. Known by many as "Maestro," Renino was the founder, director, and conductor of the White Plains Pops Band, performing in the city's parks for 25 years from 1981 to 2005. 19-Year-Old Fatally Stabbed In Mount Vernon, Suspect On Loose Police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old man who was fatally stabbed in Westchester County. The incident happened on Saturday, Feb. 11, around 4 p.m., when police in Mount Vernon learned of a man lying on the ground in the area of North Columbus Avenue (Route 22) and East Lincoln Avenue. After arriving at the scene, authorities found the victim unresponsive and discovered a single stab wound to his chest. 18-Week-Old Puppy In Danbury Loses Nose: Thousands Raised To Fund Surgery Costs A Connecticut animal rescue group is hoping to raise enough money to fund surgery costs for an 18-week-old German Shephard puppy who lost her nose from a disease. To do so, the Danbury Animal Welfare Society (DAWS) has started a GoFundMe page to raise the funds needed to pay for reconstructive surgery on the puppy, who is named Gwen. Man Uses Bedford Hills Fire District Credit Card To Make Purchases: Police A man faces identity theft charges after ordering a replacement credit card for a fire department in Northern Westchester and using it to make purchases, police said. On Saturday, Dec. 10, the Town of Bedford Police Department received a report from the Bedford Hills Fire District that they had identified numerous unauthorized charges on their credit card statement that had not been done by anyone with the fire department. Cocaine Shipped Through Mail: CT Man Busted After Picking It Up, Will Spend Years In Jail A Meriden man will spend years in prison after picking up packages full of cocaine that were shipped through the US Postal Service. Jean Carlos Mercado, age 34, was sentenced on Friday, Feb. 10 to 50 months in prison for participating in a drug trafficking organization that sent kilogram quantities of cocaine through the US Mail, according to the US Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut. Drunk Driver Caught After Crashing In Yorktown, Police Say A drunk driver faces both charges and injuries after crashing in Northern Westchester, police said. The incident happened on Tuesday, Feb. 7, around 2 p.m., when officers responded to a one-car crash in Yorktown near the intersection of Strang Boulevard and Oakside Road, according to Yorktown Police.
