Free Bus Rides: Here's How Long Westchester Will Suspend Fares For Holidays To help make things easier for commuters during the holiday season, Westchester County will again be suspending bus fares. To help residents save money, Bee-Line Bus fares in Westchester will be suspended from Saturday, Dec. 16 through Monday, Jan. 1, county officials announced.  The suspension is the second holiday season that the county has taken such an action. Man Killed After Walking In Front Of Traffic In CT A 42-year-old man was killed after being struck by a truck on a busy road in Connecticut, police announced.  The incident happened in Hartford County on Tuesday, Dec. 19 just after 6 p.m., when a Toyota Tacoma struck a pedestrian while traveling in the right lane on southbound Route 9 in Berlin near Exit 33, according to Connecticut State Police. Investigation Conducted After Greenhouse Goes Up In Flames In Croton-On-Hudson Firefighters had to race to a Northern Westchester residence after a late-night blaze engulfed a greenhouse.  The incident happened on Tuesday night, Dec. 20 at 11 p.m., when a greenhouse in Croton-on-Hudson on Radnor Avenue caught on fire, according to the Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department. Within minutes, crews were at the scene of the fire and began efforts to extinguish it and keep it from reaching any nearby structures. Beloved Mount Vernon Firefighter Dies Years After Collapsing At Residential Blaze A city in Westchester is mourning the loss of a beloved firefighter who is being celebrated for his bravery and dedication to his community.  Mount Vernon Firefighter Lamont “Wise” Killian, Jr., died from heart-related issues on Monday, Dec. 11 at the age of 51, city officials announced.  According to the US Fire Administration, Killian had been off-duty since collapsing at the scene of a residential fire on June 22, 2019, when he suffered a heart attack.  Killian's city is now remembering him as someone who was always prepared to help people.  "Your bravery …

Alert Issued For Person Missing For Several Days In Ossining Town officials in Northern Westchester are asking residents to be on the lookout for a person who has been missing for several days. Jose Fernando Palta has been missing since Sunday night, Dec 17, according to a Facebook post that was re-shared by Ossining town officials on Tuesday night, Dec. 19.  Palta was last seen near the Hudson River, his family said.  Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call 845-200-9017.
